You could set up two Matrox DualHead2Gos, one connected to the HDMI port and the other to the mini DisplayPort with two monitors connected to each. The DualHead2Gos will combine each pair of monitors into a single virtual monitor with the combined screen size, then arrange these larger virtual monitors atop each other in OS X's displays. Can you use any monitor with a Mac mini? The Mac mini doesn’t come with a monitor, but you can connect it to one using one of the ports on the back of the device. Using the right adapter, you can connect the Mac Mini to any computer screen with a VGA port. Nov 15, 2018 Once we've set up this service, you'll be able to remotely connect and install or configure whatever you like without the need of a monitor connected to the Mac mini. Start System Preferences. Click Sharing. Take note of the Computer Name. You'll need to know it to be able to connect to the Mac mini remotely later.

If you're looking for a large-screen display to go with your 2020 (or older) Mac mini, you've come to the right place. Your best bet is the LG UltraFine 4K display thanks to its versatility and price. It's perfect for most people, though there are other monitors you can also consider, depending on your situation or budget.
Best Overall: LG UltraFine 4K
Here's a workhorse 4K monitor that works perfectly with the Mac mini. Though it doesn't have the Apple design aesthetic, the good stuff is all on the inside. Just like an Apple brand monitor, all of the monitor's controls are available in the settings section of your Mac.
This 24-inch display fits right into the pocket of reasonably priced and excellent quality if you don't mind the boxy black look. As for the price, you can get two of them for almost the price of one LG UltraFine 5K Display (see below).

Hook up two for a beautiful, bright, and convenient workflow for your Mac laptop.

This LG monitor supports USB-C and Thunderbolt. The Thunderbolt 3 charges the Mac mini, and the three USB-C ports offer 5Gbps downstream. Its 27 inches big, which is about the size of Apple's larger iMac, and has a similar P3 wide color gamut with 500 nits brightness. For full 5K resolution on a larger display, the UltraFine 5K is your perfect choice.
Its biggest downfall is that it doesn't quite have that Apple aesthetic. LG has designed an attractive Edge-Arcline base for some of its monitors, which looks better with Apple products. The UltraFine 5K, unfortunately, still has that big, boxy black base.

If your workflow includes both a Mac mini and an iPad Pro, this is the monitor you want.
Best for Widescreen: LG 34WK95U-W Nano-ISP UltraWide
Though we continued to be impressed with LG's UltraFine 5K, it's the 34WK95U-W that wins our hearts. This 5K monitor has a 5120 x 2160 resolution, 34-inch display, a Thunderbolt 3 port, an HDMI port, a DisplayPort port, and a couple of USB-A ports. It's more versatile than the UltraFine, and that's ultra-fine with us.

Use LG's UltraWide monitor with your Mac and daisy chain it with a second 4K monitor.

The ZenScreen is a favorite around the iMore office for its incredible portability. It's a 15.6-inch screen with a USB-C connector. You can rotate between landscape and portrait mode, and it's compatible with Thunderbolt 3. If you need a second screen when you're headed for the coffee shop, this takes up just the right amount of space without being a burden on your portability.
Pros:
Best on a budgetASUS ZenScreen
As portable as it gets.
The ZenScreen is ASUS's very portable monitor with a USB-C port, a great-looking IPS panel, and more.
Bottom line
Picking the right second screen for your Mac mini is a difficult one. It's important to consider how much room you have on your desk, what you plan to use your Mac laptop for, and how much you can afford. That's why the LG UltraFine 4K is the perfect fit for most people. At 24-inches, it's big, but not too big. It's got an incredible 4K screen resolution and a variety of versatile ports for connecting all manner of peripherals.
If the LG is just a bit out of your range, the ASUS ZenScreen truly is the next best thing and it's portable! On the other end, consider the always impressive LG UltraFine 5K. The monitor is powerful and beautiful too!

Hubba Hubba
Make sure you have all the ports you need for your Mac with a USB-C hub
The MacBook Pro (Late 2016 and newer) sports at least two, and up to four Thunderbolt 3 ports, but that's all. What to do if you need other ports? Get a hub!
Did you just buy your first Mac mini? Wondering how the heck this thing even works? It's easier than you think. It's like a tiny stand-alone computer that you get to bring your own monitor and mouse to. Here's how to set it up.
What you'll need
The new Mac mini is Apple's version of a barebones computer. The entry model starts at $799 and only comes with the Mac mini, a power cable, and documentation. You'll need to provide your own monitor, keyboard, and mouse or trackpad. Since the new Mac mini has a number of I/O ports, your choices of monitor connectivity can be in the form of a Thunderbolt 3 connector or an HDMI connector. Whether you use your 5K Thunderbolt Display or your spare 1080p television with HDMI, the new Mac mini will be good to go. The new Mac mini also has two USB 3.1 ports so if you have older wired keyboards or mice, you'll be all set as well.

I got the 'low end' $799 Mac mini to replace my old 4-year-old Mac mini to run my M.A.M.E. arcade cabinet and add it to my Compressor nodes. What about you? What version of the new Mac mini will you get? What will you use it for? Let us know in the comments!
